How can i fix a wireless computer keyboard that has shortcuts broken?
all buttons have been thrown out of order
ex. when i press “backspace” it translates to a “+”
when i press “d” the MyDocuments comes up
i think its a jammed key but i don’t know , it might me software cause its a wireless keyboard?
Don’t know the make/model of keyboard, or whether you’re using Vista or Xp so this is just a couple of general ideas .
If you think it a jammed key then open a notepad doc or something that you can type in and press all the keys ie. qwertyuiop[]asdfghjkl;’#zxcvbnm,./ and see if they are in the right position.
If you are seeing letters on screen or the window looses focus ie. opens your MY Documents folder when you press D like you said, then either one of the shift,alt,algr,windows key or menu key may indeed be stuck.
This can usually be rectified by repeatedly tapping your keys hard, especially the shift,alt etc keys. or by prying out the keys and clearing out any gunk from within or below the keys.
Sticky keys can be the result of beverage spillages that leave a sticky residue or just a buid up of dust and moisture.
If not then it may be that your computer thinks you are using a foreign language keyboard.
you can verify this and also change it be going to the control panel, selecting regional and language settings change keyboard.
Active keyboard configs will be listed there and you can select your default or setup a new one from scratch to match your keyboard.
If you think that these may not be the cause then probably the first thing would be to de-install any software that came with the keyboard, reboot, and re-install the software again.
Or check in the software for language or shortcuts/key assignments etc.
