What is a good type of computer technology to research and write a short paper on?

I need to “Research a type of COMPUTER technology” and “describe the technology you have found. Be sure to include a description of what the technology does, as well as other information that you found to be helpful (or not) regarding the technology.”
I am having a hard time deciding what to write it on. Any suggestions?

A great new hardware technology being used would be Multi-Touch, which allows you to navigate through the interface using multiple fingers and natural gestures. So far I have seen it implemented in Apple’s iPhone and Microsoft’s Surface.
